Frequently Asked Questions

What is the magic of groups?

The real magic comes from hearing other people be *real* with their struggles. Knowing you are not alone, and that you have a safe & fun place to say anything you want–laugh, cry, and be understood. Hearing what other people are struggling with, their goals, their key learnings, somehow maximizes your own growth. Connection, belonging, laughter, normalizing, vulnerability — these are the things you can expect from an Inspire group. This is the magic that heals the spirit.

How long do groups last?

We have a proven formula for successful groups for you. Every participant of the group starts with an hour-long private session with the therapist leading the group. In this meeting, the group leader and therapist get to know you, your goals, your hopes about the group and make sure the group is the right fit.

If you and the therapist determine that a group is a right fit, you are welcome to come and stay as long as you need. If that’s just a couple of sessions, that’s fine! If you want to stay longer, the group will be here for you, as you want. This allows for longer-term bonding, connections, and being with each other through life’s highs and lows.

What does it look like week-to-week?

Each week, the lead therapist will introduce a topic of the week. Together, the group will discuss, share in a safe place to openly talk. The therapist will offer tools to help conquer things in your life like anxiety, stress, friendships, relationship stress, family stress, confidence, disordered eating, perfectionism, shame, sleep issues, social media, etc.

During the hour, you’ll be able to hear what others are going through, as well as learn clinical tools to help you survive & thrive–not only the challenges of today but for your whole future!

We’re here to hold your hand! Choosing a therapist is a very personal experience. Scrolling through bios is helpful, but there’s a lot you can’t tell just by reading on the internet. To talk to a LIVE human (and part of our Inspire intake team!) just call us at (847) 919-9096 ext. 1 or email [email protected]

What will the first session be like?2023-10-25T02:13:43-05:00

The first session lasts approximately 60 minutes. You’ll have paperwork to complete virtually before your session. The therapist will spend time introducing themselves and getting to know you, your story and your dreams. At the end, you’ll have the option to schedule your next session based upon your availability and goals. There is no pressure to book another session. We’re here for you to come and go as you need.
FOR MINORS UNDER 18: If the session is for a child 12 years or younger, the first session is just with the therapist and parent (s) or guardian. If the client is 12-18, we ask that a parent (or guardian) attend the first session for the first 10-15 minutes. The parent will be able to meet the therapist and help make the child feel comfortable.
PLEASE NOTE: Please share any concerns about your child with the therapist or Intake Team prior to the session— not in front of your child in the session. This is to protect your child and foster a positive start to therapy!

What will all the other sessions be like?2023-10-25T02:14:39-05:00

The second session is our unique formula for goal setting. In this session, your therapist will help you connect and understand what your heart really wants in this life. The remainder of the sessions will then be working on skills to tackle any obstacles in the way of you living your best life. In order to see lasting results, a commitment to at least 8 weekly sessions is recommended. However, we are flexible and can work with you to accommodate your schedule and goals.

FOR MINORS UNDER 18: Parents will not be required to attend the sessions but must be available for the last 10 minutes of the session in case the therapist would like to touch base with you or for any scheduling changes.

Inspire Spring Gala!!

Hi friend,

Once in a while, we are given a chance. A chance to do something different. Something that makes a difference.

Happiness is mental health. Fame, beauty, money, success, vacations, Oscars, Super Bowl rings--none of it matters if you're struggling inside.

Happy, balanced people impact the world by adding value.

Hurting people also impact the world in a different way, whether they mean to or not.

Heartbreaking events today are caused by people who are struggling. School shootings, suicide, hate crimes, bullying, senseless violence--these are not done by happy people. These people are struggling and hurting.

Here'e the problem.

When people need counseling the MOST, they often don't have insurance or means to pay for support. Non-profit agencies are often overwhelmed with demand and have long waitlists.

Imagine if you went to the ER and were told to wait 3 weeks or even 3 months for help. When someone reaches out for counseling support, every minute counts. Mental health is as important as physical health–it’s just not as visible.

Here's the solution.

Inspire started a non-profit to support our LOCAL community. Because we have an established business, we can cover administrative costs (rent, staff, supplies, etc.)--so nearly ALL money donated can go straight to people needing counseling.

We know you get asked to donate all the time. We do too! :)

So.... why would you consider Inspire Change for Mental Health?

Investing in mental health is one of the greatest ways to not only impact your communities's safety, happiness and success-- but your own families too.

The best part? All we need from you, is one fun night out!

Join us for at Sunset Ridge Country Club for a night of fun, dancing, drinks and amazing auction items. You can also donate items for the auction, sponsor a client scholarship in your name, or just send positive wishes our way!

I hope to see you soon. It's not often that we get to "party" for mental health, so I hope you take this opportunity to have fun for a great cause!!

Humbly & Gratefully,
Top Athletes everywhere are proving the MIND to be the secret muscle for game day success!!!

University of Michigan’s star QB, JJ McCarthy, meditates ON THE FIELD before games. Talking openly how his mindfulness and mediation are the secret to overcoming depression and staying focused on Game Day!!

We have our very own D1 Athlete, available to help!! Karen grew up in Winnetka, playing Softball and Hockey for New Trier. She went on to Valparaiso University as a D1 athlete playing Softball (and getting her Bachelors in Social Work!).

Karen gets just how MENTAL sports can be. She’s seen how powerful cognitive tools can be for Game Time!!

Beyond sports—Karen has a passion and love for helping kids with behavioral challenges. After working in Special Education in a self-contained program, she loves working, not only the children, but their entire family system. When a kid is struggling, it impacts the whole family.

As a kid who had challenges in school herself, she knows the power of overcoming those hurdles and how it can open the doors to your entire future.

Karen sees Kids (3-10), Adolescents, College, Young Adults and Parents.
