It's graduation season!!!

As a mom of a graduating 8th grader, this transition has given me even more compassion for moms and kids.

Beyond all the logistics, the emotional transition of graduation is a lot. It's exciting to see our kids achieve a milestone and start a new chapter. But, it also reminds us another chapter is closing. It's a beginning and an end all at the same time.

I've always heard when raising kids, the days are long, but the years go fast. It couldn't feel more true.

Transitions remind us that life is moving, changing and it's not slowing down. Time is a precious gift. Time is our most valuable and precious commodity and cannot be replaced. Time is the great unknown. We never know just how much of it we have left. It is highly unpredictable and we can't control it.

While we can't control time, slow it down, or get it back-- we can control our experience TODAY. We have the choice to engage right now. We can control how we show love, focus our precious time on things and people that matter, and let go of anything that sucks your time or zaps your energy.

In this season of change, I am challenging myself to be more present, and not allow my time to be gobbled up by things that don't bring me joy or meaning. I'd love to hear what you do to protect your precious time and energy!

Moms, I'm with you. We have built our practice on supporting people through challenging transitions for kids, parents, families and even grandparents. If you want someone to walk alongside you through wherever your journey is taking you. We're here with wide open arms and hugs. 🥰🤗

Plus, I know a few people. 😉

xoxo,

Overnight camp is an exciting place for kids to grow independence, confidence, make new friends and build social skills -- not to mention get a break from devices and screens.

We've seen so many clients thrive and flourish at camp. In fact, many wait all year living in a constant countdown to get back to those sacred campgrounds & camp friends!

Camp also is a place where kids can freely share and learn about other kids' challenges, and not feel so alone. Counselors can become safe people to share hopes, dreams and struggles they face.

One of those sacred Overnight Counselors has dedicated her career to becoming a counselor all year long in Social Work. Ava Shenk grew up in Deerfield, went to University of Illinois and worked summers at Chippewa. She found a real connection with kids -- and didn't want her impact to end with summers.

Ava's helped kids with so many of today's struggles -- the anxieties of social media, school, self-esteem, depression, anxiety and disordered eating. She's bubbly, kind, authentic, compassionate and able to connect quickly, feeling safe that she “get's it.”

Something Ava and most campers agree on -- they don't want the magic of camp to ever end.

Luckily, now she's able to provide that support for kids year-round--whether your kid has been to camp, never will, or never wants it to end -- Ava is here and ready to help your kids THRIVE!!

Ava is booking clients at our downtown Evanston office, and has many openings still available! Link in bio to book a session, or verify insurance. Or just call (847) 919-9096 ext. 1
It's almost SUMMER!!! Are you ready? While it's so exciting- it can be a LOT with all the transitions.

Kids graduating, coming home from college, going off to camp-- it is a lot of change. Change reminds us that we're another year older, kids are growing up, and life is constantly changing.

Want to know a secret?

Positive changes impact us very similar to negative ones. It may seem odd, but I'm here to tell you, you're not alone. Change stresses our brains, whether. we realize it or not.

This is true for kids AND adults. Kids are so excited for the freedoms of summer, but the transition can actually be stressful (for everyone!).

Summer means more free time, new experiences, less structor for social time and support at school.

At Inspire, we see it every year and know this ALL very well. We see have therapists ready to support you & your family no matter what your transitions are this summer. We also have a new therapist (former overnight camp counselor!) and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner ready to give you wrap around support with medication and counseling.

I'm hoping this summer transition is your BEST one yet. If we can support you in any way, just say the word.

We love you and are here whenever you need us.
