Groups for Jr High and High School ages 

Who is this group for?

This group is for High Schoolers who have experienced anxiety at school, home, sports or with friends. Anxiety looks different for everyone and impacts people in different ways. But, everyone shares a similar desire to feel happy, free of worry and stress so they can make their dreams a reality.

How often does it meet?

This group will be every-other-week on Wednesdays from 8-9pm at our Lake Forest office.

Who leads the group?

This group is led by a seasoned mental health professional, Thea Rossmiller, MSW who has seen firsthand the benefits some counseling tools and community can be for managing anxiety. You don’t have to feel alone or paralyzed with anxiety She knows tools to community can be a place for a healthy support system and used as a tool to help reduce and manage anxiety.

Her goal is to create a safe place for comfort and tools, while providing a holistic therapeutic experience. Thea is comfortable working with individuals who are exploring their gender or sexuality, individuals who are facing trauma or discrimination due to their membership in this community. Thea has seen first-hand how important a supportive environment can be for those experiencing anxiety and wishes to provide that space for others.

What will we do in the group?

Together, with Thea, you’ll have a safe place to share, laugh, learn and connect with others. You will also gain valuable tools to help navigate the challenges of High School, while managing anxiety and depression. Each week will be a topic will be discussed with time to share and learn.

How do I register, or can I just show up?

Call the Intake Team (847) 919-9096 ext 1 to register.

Registration is required prior to attending the first group. They will get a profile set up and all necessary paperwork completed. A valid credit card must be on file at all times. Before you attend the first session, you will have one individual session with the group leader, Thea. This is so that you can get to know the group leader, express any concerns or anything you’d like to share privately with her. This process is designed to make sure you feel comfortable, safe and get what you want out of the group.

Do I have to commit to several groups, or can I come to just one?

Once you’re registered, you’re all set to use the group as it works for you. No commitment is necessary! This group is drop-in welcome! Come to one group, come to them all–whatever works for you. You’re welcome to choose the groups to attend that work for your schedule.

How much do they cost?

Groups are $50 per session. You will only be billed if you attend. These are a private service available and are not billed through insurance.
