Hi there, I’m Shonda! I’m so grateful that you’re here and I’m excited for you to begin your therapy journey. Finding the right therapist is as much about connection as it is about skills, and the most important part of your healing is the therapeutic relationship we’ll create together. I’m passionate about creating a safe, non-judgemental space where you feel truly heard, understood, and supported.

After several cross-country moves, my husband, my two sons and I have landed in nearby Wilmette. We love the proximity to the city, the walkability, and the charm of village life here. It’s been a welcoming change, and I’m enjoying making this place feel like home.

I grew up in Michigan and spent 15 years as a professional actor, living in New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago. After that, I worked in Human Resources before leaving corporate behind to build a life coaching business. I have a deep passion for supporting women in finding their confidence, healing from emotional baggage and trauma, and navigating relationships - this has led me here today in pursuing a career in clinical mental health counseling.

I know what it’s like to feel stuck in old patterns, whether it’s in your relationships, your career, or your own self-image. I’ve navigated my own personal challenges; adjusting to motherhood, working through relationship struggles, and navigating more stressful life transitions than I can count. I truly believe that therapy is a space for healing and growth, and I’m here to walk with you through that process. Together, we’ll work to uncover your inner strength, build self-worth, and help you feel empowered to create the life and relationships you want.

In therapy, I create a safe, compassionate space where we can explore both the challenges you're facing and the possibilities ahead. My approach is rooted in respect, curiosity, and empathy. I believe in your ability to heal and grow, and together, we'll work toward helping you connect with your inner strength. You don’t need to have the answers yet, just a willingness to show up and be heard. I can’t wait to help you on your journey of healing and creating the life you truly deserve.

For Fun…

When I’m not in the office, you’ll find me biking around town with my kids, reading (anything by Sarah J. Maas), enjoying Gilson beach in the summer, and taking family on road trips throughout the Midwest. I’m also an active part of my community, most recently performing in a parent variety show at my son’s elementary school! I believe that life is full of adventure, connection, and growth, and I bring that energy into every session.
