Hello! My name is Rachel Kahan. I grew up in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and have been living in Chicago since 2020! For my undergraduate degree I went to the University of Michigan where I triple majored in Psychology, Judaic Studies, and International Studies. After graduating from the University of Michigan I attended the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and received my Master’s in Counseling Psychology. I knew I wanted to be a therapist after going through my own mental health journey. I knew I wanted to help others see that it truly is possible for there to be light on the other side of the tunnel.

My therapy space is accepting of everyone, where you will be met with zero judgment, unconditional positive regard, warmth, and empathy. I am here to accept you exactly as you are and to work together to accomplish your goals! I am so grateful and excited to get the opportunity work with you!

In my free time I love to take my dog on walks, travel, hangout with friends, shop, try new restaurants, and watch endless tv.

Depression and Anxiety-Overthinking can be EXHAUSTING. I know what it feels like to have a million thoughts running through your mind at once and feeling like you cannot enjoy the present moment. I also know what it is like to feel hopeless and defeated. I am here to help you overcome your current challenges with both anxiety and depression, and we will work together to develop the best coping skills possible, tailored specifically for you! I see each client from a holistic perspective, and we will explore all the different factors that can be contributing to your feelings of anxiety or depression. This includes factors such as work, school, body-image, social media, bullying, and trauma and relationship stress, whether that be with friends, family, or significant others.

Adolescents-Being an adolescent is filled with many transitions. Transitioning from middle school to high school can feel extremely stressful. At this age losing friends, feeling left out, struggling with classes, getting bullied, and low-self esteem are common experiences. Living in the age of social media has also resulted in more adolescents struggling with comparison and body image. I am here to help you talk through these issues, find the tools to cope with your emotions, and make your experience as an adolescent a more positive one.

College and Young Adults -Transitioning to college can be exciting, but also extremely overwhelming. Whether that be balancing course work, navigating new friendships, losing friendships, going through breakups, or being on your own for the first time, there are a lot of challenges. After college entering the adult world then presents with many new sets of challenges. You may be navigating a new city, a new job, dating, or even how to do your finances, and feel like your life is spiraling out of your control. I completely understand what you are going through, and am here to help you navigate these stressful transitions every step of the way.
