Hi! My name is Melissa (Missy) Tuber Davis. I grew up on the North Shore of Chicago in Glencoe, Illinois.
After graduating from New Trier High school, I earned a BA in Psychology from Pitzer College, in Claremont, California. I started as a school social worker for The Chicago Public Schools. As a counselor I met privately with high school students (14-18) with a range of learning and behavioral disabilities. I provided a safe nonjudgmental setting for students to talk openly and honestly about their feelings. Additionally, I coordinated 504 meetings, managed communication amongst the academic team, and worked with the student’s parents and teachers. It was this experience that fueled me to gain further education in the Social Work field. Subsequently, I earned my MSW from Loyola University in Chicago. After earning my masters degree, I worked for an Inpatient Hospital with adolescents 12 to 18 years old and young adults 19 to 24 years of age.
My goal as a therapist is to help you gain insight into the problems you are facing and develop personalized tools and techniques for you to feel more in control and empowered in your own life. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process to develop a client’s personalized treatment plan that aligns with their unique needs and goals. My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from a range of modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. This allows me to tailor my approach to best support each individual on their mental health journey.
