Hi! My name is Melissa (Missy) Tuber Davis. I grew up on the North Shore of Chicago in Glencoe, Illinois.

After graduating from New Trier High school, I earned a BA in Psychology from Pitzer College, in Claremont, California. I started as a school social worker for The Chicago Public Schools. As a counselor I met privately with high school students (14-18) with a range of learning and behavioral disabilities. I provided a safe nonjudgmental setting for students to talk openly and honestly about their feelings. Additionally, I coordinated 504 meetings, managed communication amongst the academic team, and worked with the student’s parents and teachers. It was this experience that fueled me to gain further education in the Social Work field. Subsequently, I earned my MSW from Loyola University in Chicago. After earning my masters degree, I worked for an Inpatient Hospital with adolescents 12 to 18 years old and young adults 19 to 24 years of age.

My goal as a therapist is to help you gain insight into the problems you are facing and develop personalized tools and techniques for you to feel more in control and empowered in your own life. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process to develop a client’s personalized treatment plan that aligns with their unique needs and goals. My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from a range of modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. This allows me to tailor my approach to best support each individual on their mental health journey.

Anxiety/Depression:

Do you find it difficult to get up and go? Are you overwhelmed by thoughts about things you have to do but have little energy to tackle them? Are you struggling to focus, complete your school work, and engage with your friends? Do you experience loneliness regularly as a result? Come talk to me. I understand that anxiety and panic can be crippling and paralyzing. Together, we will work on strategies that allow you to better communicate your feelings and express what is on your mind.

Youth, Adolescents, Young Adults:

High school & the transition to college is hard enough on its own and can be much more difficult if you are struggling with any mental health issues. Whether it’s trouble focusing, keeping up in school, fitting in socially, or helping you manage your own expectations, and leaving home and transitioning into adulthood…. therapy is a place where you can feel safe, heard, supported while you navigate the many complicated emotions and adjustments that come with growing up. Therapy not only allowed me to overcome my distress and create healthier coping patterns, but also to explore my own self-identity and personal values. I am here to normalize the difficulties of growing up and help you navigate whatever life stage you may be going through.

Communication, Relationships, Attachment Issues

If you find yourself struggling in your relationships with friends, significant others, coworkers, parents, or family members I am here to help! I am very passionate about helping my clients feel supported, empowered, and effective in their personal relationships. Maybe you struggle with conflict and want to learn more effective communication strategies or maybe you want to take a deeper look into how your familial relationships growing up may be affecting your ability to navigate relationships as an adult. Whatever the case, therapy is a space where you can explore those questions safely at your own pace and practice new ways of relating and communicating

For Fun…

I love snowboarding out in Colorado, talking and laughing with friends and family, yoga practice, taking long walks with my Pug, traveling with family, listening to music and learning the guitar.
