Kaila was born and raised in the northwest suburbs. Kaila earned her Bachelor’s of Social Work through Northeastern Illinois University. Quickly afterwards, Kaila attended Loyola University Chicago: School of Social Work where she earned her Master’s in Social Work.

Kaila understands firsthand if you feel scared or unsure if therapy will work for you. If you’re feeling stuck or discouraged, that is perfectly okay! She felt the same way when she was looking for her own therapist. It took Kaila a little while to find the right therapist who “gets it.” She believes the right therapist is out there for you in the different seasons of your life. Kaila loves nothing more than helping people feel heard, understood and accepted–just as you are. Through that space she gently offers a safe space for healing and growth. She’s also seen firsthand just how much therapy can help and offer hope, laughter and joy in your life.

As your therapist, you can expect acceptance, warmth, humor, vulnerability, and an overall positive and welcoming energy from Kaila. Kaila has a strong passion for working with individuals to find their strengths, while using a client-centered and empowering approach. On-top of providing a client-centered approach, Kaila offers a wide-range of expertise including, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Somatic Therapy, the Internal Family Systems Model and Therapy. Kaila understands that these approaches may not be for everyone, and that is okay! She will work with you and be open to exploring the best therapeutic approach for you.

Empathetic Counseling for Kids & Adolescents:

Kaila is proficient in providing individual and family counseling, employing active listening and empathy to create a safe and supportive environment for clients.

From kiddos and teens to young adults, Kaila understands that being a human in this world and let alone navigating the world can be new, scary and hard. Whether you are having trouble in school, making friends, learning about yourself, becoming an adult, Kaila will provide a place where you can feel heard and safe while you navigate all the things that come with being a child, growing up, and becoming an adult.

Couples, Families, and Relationship Building:

Relationships and friendships are so very important for everyone, connection is a natural human basic need! But navigating them may be hard for some people. Balancing your personal needs and relationships can be tricky, but I am here to help navigate and improve your relationships, boundaries and connections, while working on yourself.

Kaila is Gottman Method Trained and uses this approach to help couples explore their relationship and increase understanding, communication, intimacy, and ways to navigate conflict within the relationship.

Assessment and Intervention:

Skilled in conducting comprehensive assessments to identify clients’ needs and developing tailored intervention plans, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams for holistic care.

Advocacy and support:

Strong advocate for clients’ rights and well-being, connecting them with essential community resources and social support networks.

Kaila also has a proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, medical professionals, educators, and community agencies to enhance the overall quality of care.

Crisis and Trauma-Informed Therapy:

Kaila specializes in trauma and PTSD, Troublesome Childhoods, Domestic and/or Sexual Violence.

Experienced in crisis intervention, offering immediate support to clients in emergencies and implementing effective crisis management strategies.

Kaila bring three years of experience working with a non-profit organization called Northwest CASA, the rape crisis center serving the North/Northwest Suburbs of Cook County. While working there, Kaila learned and provided all aspects of trauma-informed care. Kaila has provided crisis intervention and trauma counseling to survivors and their non-offending significant others. Through her time there, she also provided Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention trainings to the community and other professionals.

Kaila has completed the courses of The Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, led by Dr. Bruce Perry. This model is a neurodevelopmentally informed perspective looking at intrauterine factors, trauma exposure factors, educational factors on human development and functioning. Here, Kaila was able to focus on learning about neurodevelopment throughout childhood to adolescents. Kaila has also completed her Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) training, which is typically used for clients with disorders such as PTSD, Anxiety, Phobias and more

Overall, Kaila has an understanding of how trauma can impact an individual’s life in so many ways. She also understands that for some, trauma can be a one-time thing, or can occur repeatedly for some individuals. She understands that everyone will have a different response to these traumatic experiences.

For Fun…

Outside of the office, you’ll find Kaila spending time with her family and dogs. She has three younger siblings that bring joy and laughter to her life. All together her family has seven dogs! Kaila is a dog-mom to two of those dogs, Snoopy and Charlie.
