Welcome! I am Grace Zhuo. Having lived and worked across the USA, Asia, and Europe, I bring an international perspective to my practice. This wide-ranging background has honed my multicultural counseling skills, equipping me to support clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and age groups.

I also have significant life experience as a mom and graduate student working toward my third Master’s Degree, building on Master’s Degrees from Northwestern (Marketing Communications) and University of Illinois Chicago (Sociology). I’m also a seasoned professional in management consulting, marketing communications and college admissions consulting. Through my journey, I’ve experienced the rewards and challenges of being a working mother, significant career changes, and several international moves—all navigated with faith and resilience.

I believe everyone has the innate capacity to transform their struggles into growth, and that they do not have to walk their paths alone. Counseling provides a relational-experiential process which facilitates this process of exploration, insight, and action.

Therapy, as I practice it, is a balanced combination of approaches that unite support with skill coaching and addresses the mind- body- spirit- life experiences which feel the most important to my clients.

By instilling hope and providing culturally sensitive and inclusive care, I am dedicated to supporting clients in achieving holistic well-being. My positive attitude towards life helps me connect with clients seeking mindful changes through many of life’s transitions.

As a clinical mental health counseling intern attending National Louis University. My previous studies include an undergraduate degree in China, an MA in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and an MS in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University.

College and Young Adults

As a former college admissions consultant, I understand the pressures and stress these young adults face. I also have personal experience with the intricacies of applying and attending universities, attending University of Illinois Chicago, Northwestern and most recently National Louis University. College students and young adults navigate complex academic and early career challenges. I am adept at helping students work through academic stress, depression, and anxiety with empathetic support and skill building. I also believe in building resilience with my clients of any age, whether they are experiencing relationship stressors or career anxiety.

Adults

I help clients acknowledge and manage their journeys through difficult life transitions, complex relationships, parenting challenges, and grief and loss, using mindfulness practices, without judgment, and guiding them into skills which turn pain into growth. In addition to being a parent, I have professional experience working in management consulting, marketing communications, and college admissions consulting.

Moms

I have a personal understanding of challenges and joys of being a working mother. Throughout my journey, I’ve had significant career changes, attended two graduate programs and had several international moves. Through my experience I’ve learned the power of faith and resilience for motherhood and life. I would love to gently guide moms to find grace for themselves while navigating their life and dreams.

Immigrants

I was born and raised in mainland China. I earned my undergraduate degree in China before coming to the U.S. to study at the University of Illinois Chicago and Northwestern. As an expatriate and a minority, I understand that loneliness and challenges can come with these identities. This perspective allows me to look past difficulties and focus on the strengths and benefits of being in a foreign country. I use these insights to help clients discover their strengths and available resources, regardless of their circumstances.

To bridge my East and West connection, I serve on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Asian Pop-Up Cinema, fostering appreciation for Asian cultures through film.

For Fun…

My self-care routine involves yoga, walks in nature, connecting around food, and engaging in the arts. I also cherish moments spent with family and friends. Additionally, I serve on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Asian Pop-Up Cinema, bridging East and West by fostering appreciation for Asian cultures through film.
