Hello! I’m a husband, father of three daughters, and the only male in a household that also includes two wonderfully stubborn dogs. Outnumbered? Absolutely. Complaining? Not a chance.

Life is good — but it hasn’t always been. My family has faced challenges I never could have anticipated. Counseling didn’t just help us survive; it made us stronger and closer. That experience is the reason I changed careers and dedicated myself to helping others find the same.

Before counseling, I spent four decades studying what makes people tick. As an actor, I learned to read emotions, motivations, and the unspoken stories people carry. As a global advertising executive, I conducted hundreds of focus groups and interviews worldwide — uncovering what drives human behavior across virtually every population imaginable. My respect for each person I’ve worked with only deepens. Everyone has a story, and I want to hear yours.

My path to counseling began with Stephen Minister training at our community church, a lay care program supporting people through grief, illness, divorce, and life’s hardest transitions. That experience confirmed what I’d long sensed: this was exactly where I belonged.

So I returned to Northwestern for a second master’s degree. I’ve never looked back.

Parenting & Families

My parenting experience isn’t just clinical; it’s deeply personal. I know firsthand how desperate and lost you can feel when your child is struggling.

In 2016, our youngest daughter — an elite athlete — suffered a traumatic brain injury at thirteen. The physical and emotional fallout was devastating.

Over the years that followed, my wife and I experienced every corner of the treatment landscape alongside her. We navigated residential programs, therapeutic boarding schools, inpatient psychiatric units, wilderness programs, substance abuse treatment, executive functioning support, transitional living, PHP, and IOP. No two programs were alike. I learned what works, what doesn’t, and how to advocate fiercely when it matters most.

Along the way, I evaluated a wide range of treatment approaches: DBT, CBT, ACT, EMDR, Trauma Therapy, TMS, Biofeedback, Art Therapy, Family Therapy, Mindfulness, and more. That experience grounded my commitment to holistic care: integrating mind, body, and context for lasting health.

I also know what it’s like to fight school boards and insurance companies while your child is in crisis. I continue to help families navigate that red tape, because no parent should have to face it alone.
Today, my daughter is thriving — and our family is stronger and closer because of everything we endured.

I wouldn’t wish that journey on anyone. But I’ve seen what’s possible on the other side, and that’s what I bring to every family I work with.

Men & Men’s Issues

Being a man today is hard, especially when the people you love most are struggling. As a husband and father who has been there, I understand.
Too often, men lack the tools — or the permission — to express fear, ask for support, or admit they’re struggling.

The weight adds up fast: second-guessing every decision, struggling to communicate, worrying about the future – all while children, a marriage, aging parents, and a career compete for your attention. Guilt, shame, exhaustion, and resentment aren’t weaknesses; they’re signs it’s time to get some support.

Drawing on Northwestern’s rigorous clinical training and decades of real-world experience, I bring both evidence-based tools and hard-won wisdom to our work together.

Research consistently shows that the therapeutic relationship is the greatest predictor of positive outcomes — more than any specific technique or modality. That’s why building a safe, honest, and collaborative space is my priority. Our time together matters.

Together, we’ll draw on skills and insights I’ve tested personally and clinically — practical, evidence-based tools that can change how you show up at home, at work, and in the moments that matter most.

For Fun…

When I’m not working, you’ll find me at our family lake house in Michigan, restoring Delores (a 1964 Plymouth Fury), tending my backyard aviary, or pausing to read every historical marker I pass — much to my family’s dismay. They remain, without question, my favorite adventure.
