Katie has both life and clinical experience to relate to adolescents, adults, and parents. She grew up on the Northwest side of Chicago in the Edgebrook community and graduated from Loyola Academy. She has an uncanny ability to listen, hear you, relate, and make you feel safe. She is calm, warm, and direct, and you can feel that she really cares.
Adolescents
Katie has become a highly requested Therapist over the last 5 years, helping teens to cultivate self awareness of their inner landscape, and realize that they have choices. Before coming to Inspire, Katie spent 12 years in Special Education, serving children with emotional and behavioral challenges as a Learning Behavior Specialist. She supported students with a variety of special needs, managed IEPs and 504s, facilitated behavior intervention plans, and coached High School Track & Field. Now, she loves empowering teens to connect with their values and develop confidence. Katie provides regular parent sessions for all clients under 18 to keep parents involved in the process!
Adults
Many adults on the North Shore count on their regular sessions with Katie to keep themselves grounded and continue to heal and grow. Katie helps adults of all genders to reflect on their tendencies and get out of their own way. Being in her 40’s, Katie can relate to many struggles women, parents, and blended families face, and does so with kindness and empathy. She has experience counseling adults who have lived through childhood trauma, toxic family relationships, grief and loss, and can support you in parenting, marriage and daily self-care. Katie will acknowledge the pain you endure, and help you to live with more gratitude and intention- Break free from limiting beliefs and old patterns!
In addition to being a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Katie is a certified Boundaries and Codependency Specialist, and has been trained in Motivational Interviewing. Katie uses an eclectic approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) to help her clients meet their goals.
For Fun…
For fun, Katie loves to read self-help books, sing and dance in her kitchen, be in nature, and spend time with her chihuahua terrier, Elliott.
