Alexis Ross, MHP

Serving adults with Anxiety, Stressful Life Transitions, Divorce, Women’s Issues, Relationship Stress

I am a Chicago native, Winnetka mom, and former finance professional. Counseling has always been in my life.  I have done the work myself in therapy over many years that has helped me tremendously.   I have a very optimistic view on people’s ability to heal.

People generally experience me as warm, non-judgmental, compassionate and quite funny. I am very analytical and can also be very serious when appropriate.

Corporate Experience & Career Pivot

I grew up in the North Shore area, attending Lake Forest Academy, then attended University of Colorado, Boulder for undergrad. I have a MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of Business. I had a successful career for 20+ years in finance in investment banking, commercial banking and private wealth management having worked at JP Morgan (formerly Bear Stearns), Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs.

While I enjoyed my career for many years, I realized my true passion is building relationships and empowering people through mental health, to experience the freedom, joy and empowerment I did through my own counseling.  Now, at 52 years old, I pivoted my careers and am pursuing a  Master’s Degree in Counseling at Northwestern University.

Divorce, Separation, Coparenting, and Family experience

I understand personally and professionally the experience of divorce, coparenting and mental health challenges families face. I come from a family of divorce.  My family history includes trauma and many issues with anxiety, depression and other mental illness.

I have a lot of life experience having personally dealt with a lot of difficult situations.  Having gone through divorce, I feel particularly well suited to help others, both men and women, facing divorce or separation. I am divorced and a have a 14 year old son. My greatest joy is being a mother and I enjoy a wonderful community in Winnetka.

For fun

I love meeting people and enjoy socializing. I enjoy intellectual conversations, poetry and singing karaoke. I love stand-up comedy. I believe in the power of exercise and have fun playing pickleball and tennis socially. We have a golden retriever named Millie who we love and adore.
