Hi, I’m Katherine! I’m so glad your search for support has led you here.

I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University and hold a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Dayton. Before entering private practice, I worked in community mental health, supporting individuals living with chronic mental illness. Those experiences profoundly shaped my approach as a therapist, expanding my understanding of the systemic challenges many people face and reinforcing the importance of meeting each person with empathy, humility, and curiosity.

I’ve always been fascinated by people’s stories—what shapes us, challenges us, and helps us grow. I believe every person is wonderfully complex. Our identities, relationships, experiences, cultures, strengths, and struggles intersect in ways that make each of us unique. Therapy offers a space to slow down, embrace that complexity, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your experiences.

My approach to counseling is integrative and tailored to each client’s unique needs. While I primarily draw from psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies, I believe no single theory can fully capture the complexity of the human experience. Together, we’ll explore how past experiences and relationships may be influencing present patterns while also developing practical tools to navigate current challenges, build resilience, and create lasting change.

Clients often describe me as warm, collaborative, genuine, and direct. I strive to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are—without judgment and without pretense. We may have difficult conversations, but we’ll also make room for humor, authenticity, and the realities of being human. My hope is that together we can identify what’s getting in the way of living fully, build upon your strengths, and move toward a life that feels more aligned with your values and goals.

Adolescents

My passion for working with adolescents began with my own experience in therapy as a teen. I know firsthand how meaningful it can be to feel truly seen, heard, and supported during a stage of life that can feel confusing, overwhelming, and full of change. That experience helped shape my desire to become a therapist and create that same kind of safe, supportive space for others.

After earning my undergraduate degree, my work in community mental health further strengthened this passion, as I found myself deeply moved by the conversations I had with clients and the stories they trusted me to hold. These experiences continue to guide my work with adolescents, helping them better understand themselves, build confidence, navigate challenges, and feel less alone in what they are going through.

Substance Use

Substance use is an area of particular interest in my work. I completed my clinical internship in substance use treatment, where I worked with individuals navigating recovery from opioid use and other substance-related concerns. This experience deepened my appreciation for the nonlinear nature of healing and reinforced the importance of hope, even when people have lost faith in themselves.

In addition, my work in community mental health exposed me to the complex relationship between mental health and substance use, particularly how anxiety, depression, trauma, and life stressors can influence coping behaviors. I also recognize that not every substance-related concern looks like addiction.

For many teens and young adults, experimentation, peer influence, changing social norms, or increasing reliance on substances to manage emotions can create challenges that impact relationships, school, work, self-esteem, and overall well-being.

My approach is nonjudgmental, collaborative, and focused on helping clients better understand their relationship with substances, build healthier coping strategies, and make choices that align with their goals and values.

For Fun…

Outside the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, trying new restaurants, traveling, binging reality TV, and finding reasons to laugh every day. It is a privilege to be trusted with someone’s story, and I would be honored to be part of your journey.
