"Universal Yearnings" Notice which ones stand o "Universal Yearnings"

Notice which ones stand out to you. You’ll want them all, because we all do. But some will be different. They’ll stand out to you. You may have just one word, or several. Every person’s yearnings are a unique configuration.

I want you to take your “yearnings” and add them to your goals. Try writing them on a post-it on your bathroom mirror. If you want to be valued, you don’t have to wait until you lose the baby weight. You can go for that goal right now. 💗 #chatting #therapy #mentalhealth #psychology #goalsetting #therapist #counseling #inspirecounseling #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #chicagotherapy #northbrook #northshore

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is truly one of the mos Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is truly one of the most inspirational people of our lifetime. In honor of his holiday of service, we are following his example of action & love. We're participating in Step Up For Mental Health's "COVID-19 Relief: Day of Service Food Drive For Families Dealing with Mental Health Related Needs". ⁣
Mental Health issues are at a fever pitch right now with all that is going on in our hurting and isolated world. While we are dedicated to helping others every single day, we know that there are so many more we can help. There are so many people right now who are debilitated by mental health issues and financial hardships. ⁣
Step Up for Mental Health's goal since the pandemic has been to help families during hard times with basic needs. They have fed families, paid for mental health medications, paid for mental health therapy, given one-to-one peer support when individuals needed someone to talk to during times of stress. Via home drop-offs, food drives, and safe digital spaces⁣
They know families are hungry during this time of need, so we want to help more families have essential nutrition. Step up For Mental Health is helping families pay for groceries in poverty areas in Chicago during the Day of Service and week. Join us and support our efforts of supporting families getting the necessary groceries in their local communities, who have been suffering thought-out this crisis. ⁣

We know so many of you are heartbroken by the rece We know so many of you are heartbroken by the recent loss of an amazing GBN High School student last week. We share your grief.

In light of this , we want to empower you to talk to your kids about suicide. It is such a confusing, upsetting and scary thing to talk about, but it is so important. Depression is a disease, not a choice.

Don't be afraid to talk to your kids. Talking about suicide does not plant any ideas or encourage it. In fact, talking helps a lot.

If you have a High Schooler or College-age child, experts say the conversation should be NOT IF, WHEN. Don't ask IF they or their friends have struggled with thoughts of suicide, ask WHEN, especially NOW. When someone they know dies of suicide, it can be very triggering.

Talk about what they can do when they or a friend thinks about suicide. Remind them that mental health struggles are normal, and you are here to help them just like you would if they had strep or the stomach flu. Treat them with respect and talk to them like an adult. Don't threaten or talk down to them.

Check our FB page for the full article with tips for talking younger-age kids.

Be safe. Be well. Love each other. We love you.
