Hello! My name is Allison, and if you work with me, you will have a safe and welcoming space to express yourself. I utilize humor, patience, kindness, and unconditional positive regard to strengthen the therapeutic bond. My goal and purpose as a therapist is to allow my clients space to process their thoughts and emotions, and encourage growth and positive change. I find joy in empowering my clients.

I am a native of the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago and I am a proud graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the University of Wisconsin Madison.

Adolescents and Young Adults

I easily relate to adolescents and 20-somethings. As an adolescent emerging into adulthood, I experienced the benefits of counseling and how it can help through difficult life periods. Professionally, I am focused on providing a safe space for young folk to process stressful life transitions and other obstacles. I love helping others find their path by tackling areas of school, family, friendship, relationships, and passions.

Anxiety and Trauma-Related Concerns

I have experience helping clients through their past and current traumas. I work with people who are struggling with challenging family dynamics and complex trauma. I have learned many skills to aid in coping with anxiety. I am passionate about helping people accept their feelings and battle intrusive thoughts. I am here to listen to people who feel unseen and unheard. I use a compassionate approach to help people identify their symptoms and triggers.

Therapy Approach

Throughout my training and practice, I have adopted an eclectic approach as a therapist. My main focuses are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and ACT Therapy. I use a “client-centered” therapeutic approach which means I allow and trust my client to set the pace and tone of our sessions. I also value a strengths-based perspective that focuses on shining a light on the client’s strengths and using that positivity to create change. I have an education rooted in social justice. I recognize the importance of cultural humility and being in a place of constant learning as a therapist. I use a trauma-informed practice and love to help others grow their sense of autonomy and self-confidence.

For Fun

When not seeing clients, I can be found curled up with a book. I enjoy reading and writing and have a big appreciation for art and music. I love taking long walks outside and spending time with well-loved friends and family.
