Hello and welcome! My name is Sara Riggle. I was born and raised in Tennessee and am relatively new to the Chicagoland area! I am a therapist specializing in providing compassionate and effective mental health support to individuals across the lifespan. With a passion for helping individuals overcome life’s challenges and achieve their full potential, I have devoted my career to creating a safe and nurturing space for personal growth and emotional well-being.

Education and Training

I hold a Master of Science in Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Tennessee, where I gained a strong foundation in psychological theory and therapeutic techniques. My commitment to staying current with the latest research and treatment modalities has led me to pursue ongoing professional development and training in trauma-focused therapies, ensuring that I offer the most effective and evidence-based approaches to my clients.

I have experience working with a wide range of populations through my work in an inpatient facility, outpatient community mental health agency, and a private practice working with children and adolescents.

Specialization in Trauma

I have a deep understanding of the profound impacts that trauma can have on individuals of all ages. During my time in the Master’s program at the University of Tennessee, I completed a two-year Trauma Treatment Graduate Certificate Program. My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, emphasizing empathy, safety, and trust as foundational elements of the healing process. Whether you or your loved one have experienced a single traumatic event or are coping with complex trauma, I am here to provide support and guide you towards recovery and resilience.

Experience with Children and Adolescents

Working with children and adolescents requires a unique skill set and a compassionate approach. I have extensive experience helping young clients navigate the challenges of childhood and adolescence, including issues related to school, peer relationships, self-esteem, behavioral problems, and family dynamics. My goal is to empower young individuals to build resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, and thrive in their unique journey towards adulthood.

Supporting Adults on Their Healing Journey

For adults seeking therapy, I offer a warm and nonjudgmental space where you can explore your past experiences, current struggles, and future goals. Whether you are dealing with the aftermath of trauma, managing stress and anxiety, or facing life transitions, I am here to help you gain insight, build resilience, and make positive changes in your life.

Approach to Therapy

I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, and I work closely with each client to develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with their unique needs and goals. My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from a range of modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Family Systems Theory, Attachment Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, etc. This allows me to tailor my approach to best support each individual’s healing journey.

Your Path to Healing Starts Here

If you or your child are ready to take the first step towards healing, I invite you to reach out and schedule a consultation. Together, we can embark on a path of growth, resilience, and empowerment. My commitment is to provide you with the support and guidance you need to overcome challenges, rediscover your inner strength, and lead a fulfilling life.

I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and support you on your journey towards healing and well-being. Please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss how I can be of assistance.

For Fun

Outside of the therapy office, I enjoy spending time with my bubbly golden retriever, trying out new recipes, searching for new houseplants, browsing antique/thrift stores, and cheering on the Tennessee Vols. Since I’m still exploring the area, I’m always open to restaurant suggestions and fun activities in the city!
