Are you struggling with making a big decision? Feeling anxious and unsure how to move forward? Have you or a loved-one received a concerning diagnosis? Sara’s got you.
High School & College
Sara grew up in Highland Park, attended Indiana University, graduated from The American University in Washington D.C., and worked at North Shore Academy so she understands the pressures kids face today in the North Shore – personally and professionally.
What she loves most about helping high school, college, and young adults? Finding a place of calm in their chaos and figuring out potential options they didn’t know existed. Then, with new skills and strategies, helping them to feel prepared to move forward. Whether it’s struggling with anxiety in friendships, academics, applying to colleges, leaving home, or professional choices — Sara helps make a clear plan to move in a direction with greater peace of mind and confidence.
Sara knows the importance of taking care of yourself — mentally, physically and emotionally. She also gets how challenging it can be for women, as we so often take care of everyone else first. She loves helping women reset, refocus and rejuvenate so that they can be their best.
As a cancer survivor, mom and wife, Sara has a special gift for understanding how to support people struggling in their lives – as well as with their health. Sara also knows that a diagnosis doesn’t just impact one person. A diagnosis significantly impacts everyone involved – the patient, their families, caregivers, and friends.
At 37 years old, when Sara was pregnant with her second child, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. Her whole life changed in an instant. She wanted professional support and looked high and low to find a therapist who really understood what she and her family were going through. She never found that person so, once finished with treatment, it became the driving motivation for Sara to refocus, go back to school, change careers and become a therapist. She is now able to be that support for other cancer patients, survivors, and those who love them. She is the counselor who “gets it”.
Sara’s sense of adventure
Sara approaches everything with curiosity and a spirit of adventure. Her life shows that!
She spent many years living and traveling abroad before returning home to the North Shore. Sara ran Vanity Fair Magazine’s marketing/promotions department in London, managed an international events company in Boston, opened a boutique “Cheeky” in Highland Park and is now a therapist in Northbrook helping the community she loves.
Sara will be the first to tell you that things don’t always work out as you planned so resilience and flexibility are key. Life doesn’t have to follow a straight line or the rules and expectations outlined by others. There is not just one way to do anything – there are options for everything! Sara wants to help others find their paths to live their best lives – wherever their roads may take them.
