Hi! My name is Lauren Siegfried. If you work with me, you will get a happy medium of talk therapy, games, exercises, and humor. My sessions are always free of judgment. My style of therapy is filled with warmth, acceptance, and unconditional support within our time working together. I firmly believe that there are no right or wrong answers, but I do give open and honest feedback within reason. I appreciate being laid back, but also do enjoy some structure within sessions.
My work has been focused on meeting the needs of each individual I work with. I strive to meet the client where they are at and adapt and adjust my care and approach accordingly. I am here to serve you and your needs!
A little bit about me! I grew up in a south suburb of Chicago and attended Xavier University for my undergraduate degree where I studied Psychology and Philosophy. My passion for counseling stemmed from my work with a nonprofit organization working with children from low-income families. Though my children looked up to me as a teacher and leader, I was astounded by how much I was able to learn from them in turn. My love of each of my children introduced me to this wonderful field, which allowed me to fulfill my dream of helping my community and finding great beauty in the diversity surrounding us.
During my time in my Master’s Degree at Lewis University, I spent a lot of time working in an inpatient behavioral hospital. It was there that I learned to be flexible and gained so much experience working with a wide array of mental health disorders in all ages. I worked on several units with adolescents, women, men, and geriatrics.
My time spent within the hospital allowed me to gain a better understanding of my therapeutic style, which is the belief that the client is in charge of their therapeutic experience. I want my clients to feel empowered and aid in developing a solidified skill set that will enable them to succeed within their daily life. I strive to make you feel valued, understood, and heard.
For Fun
In my free time, I enjoy binge watching crime shows. Yes, I am still emotionally recovering from Netflix removing Criminal Minds, but I digress. I have a passion for trying new restaurants and foods. I also consider myself a connoisseur of tennis and love being outside and active whenever I can!
