Trauma & Anxiety

Katherine brings extensive experience with trauma and anxiety through her volunteer work at Americorps and her graduate research with The Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC)– a VA Hospital which is the first-of-its-kind partnership between the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense (DoD).

With Americorps, she counseled and supported people who tested positive for HIV.  In addition to actually administering the HIVE tests, managing needle exchanges for proper sanitation protocols–she also assisted group counseling sessions, community outreach, promoting health education, and managed the food bank operations.

As part of her graduate work, Katherine worked closely with Veterans who had experienced traumas from their services, specifically struggling with moral injury (guilt from their services). Katherine supported these veterans through counseling meetings and holding life-building skills workshops.

Adolescents

Katherine gets what it’s like to be an adolescent and has a heart for helping. She knows the benefits and rewards of having a safe person to talk to and navigate through life’s challenges in Jr High and High School. She’s down-to-earth, relatable, and is able to sit with teens in their struggles, all while making plans to help move forward.

For Fun

Katherine has an adventurous spirit and loves to travel the world. She loves meeting new people, seeing how different cultures live and has an open mind and heart that make her a wise, and fun-loving woman of the world.
