Hello! My name is Chloe Ciaglia, and I am a graduate student at Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School, focusing on co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
I am a North Shore mom to three boys, grew up in the Chicago suburbs, and split time between San Francisco and Chicago after my parents’ divorce in my teens. I attended the University of Illinois in Champaign and graduated with a degree in marketing.
My corporate background was in Marketing Research, and I worked with United Airlines on qualitative and quantitative projects to improve the customer experience. However, I have long been passionate about mental health and substance use disorders, and helping individuals struggling with life’s varied challenges, and decided to pursue a Master’s Degree in mental health two years ago.
As a marathon finisher, I like to view mental wellness not as a dash to the finish, but as a process requiring endurance, patience, and a strong support system. One cannot complete a marathon without the proper training and effort. Similarly, a therapist and client need to establish a supportive relationship, which leads to the client developing a positive inner dialogue, healthy coping strategies, and resilience. I am eager to partner with individuals on their journey, recognizing that progress is not quick or seamless, and some days one needs to simply put one foot in front of the other on the road to growth and positive treatment outcomes.
My counseling approach is person-centered and strength-based, emphasizing one’s internal strength and establishing a non-judgmental relationship that celebrates victories while recognizing that there will be steps back on the journey. Each individual’s pace and path are different, and the therapeutic alliance we will develop will respect your pace with patience, empathy, and unconditional positive regard.
I welcome culturally diverse clients, adolescents through adults. I am particularly focused on working with those managing anxiety, grief, trauma, substance use disorders, and personality disorders. I am also focused on clients managing neurodivergent conditions such as ADHD, autism, and dyslexia, and I incorporate the perspective that these are simply differences, not deficits or flaws.
My graduate program emphasizes co-occurring disorders and the specific challenges associated with treatment. The evidence-based modalities I will incorporate include CBT, DBT, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing, which I feel can help reach positive treatment outcomes in most client relationships. Treatment planning is varied and diverse, just like individuals, and together we will find the right balance of strategies that promote the most successful results for you!
I look forward to accompanying clients on their journey to recovery, wellness, and empowerment. The road isn’t always smooth, but together we can navigate the obstacles along the way.
For Fun…
Much of my time is focused on my three boys and managing their lives! Does chaffeuring count as a hobby? :) All three of my boys play hockey, football, and lacrosse, so I will have to say one of my hobbies is definitely youth athletics ;) Navigating their experience has given me a unique perspective and the ability to work with youth and adolescent athletes. These kids are managing a lot of pressure!
I also love entertaining friends, planning parties, home design, travel, cooking, and our family loves skiing. I am passionate about wellness in all forms, believe wellness is individualistic, and am eager to help clients succeed on their journey to overall well-being. I also love hiding from the family with a good TV show!
