Erika was inspired to become a therapist from her own personal experience in therapy. She understands what it is like to struggle with mental health and the stressors of life. Erika believes in the power of connection and hope, and she views the opportunity to walk with clients in their healing journeys as an honor and privilege.
Erika earned her Bachelor’s in Journalism and Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. Prior to Inspire, she worked as a counselor at a community college wellness center. She provides warmth, gentleness, curiosity, empathy, and a space free from judgment. With your trust, she will work hard as your collaborator in unfolding a more fulfilling life.
Connecting To Those Who Feel Like They Don’t Belong
If you struggle with knowing who you are in relation to any part of your life – family, friends, peers, culture, gender, sexuality – Erika draws from her personal experience to meet you where you are with open-mindedness, humility, and compassion. Erika is biracial and grew up in both the Chicagoland area and Japan. She knows what it feels like to be “stuck between two worlds” and not feel like you belong with the people you want to, no matter what part of your life it affects.
Coming Home To Our Bodies
Healing the relationship we have with our bodies is a brave and courageous act in a culture that tells us how we should eat, exercise, and look like. Erika became passionate about working with eating disorders and disordered eating after her own experience with these challenges. She works from a Health At Every Size lens and uses principles of Intuitive Eating to support you in coming home to your body.
For Fun…
Erika enjoys exploring Chicago one bite at a time and searching for gems at thrift shops. She and her partner also like to spend time with their cat Matcha and (attempt to) take him on walks outside.
