Everyone wants positivity. It can take time to cultivate, but sometimes you just need an dose of instant positivity.

Positivity is near and dear to my heart. It has changed my life.

My middle name is Blue. I kid you not. It was maiden name and I made it my middle on purpose. I think it fits because I naturally feel blue often, I think my temperature naturally runs a little negative.

Ironically, when I’m asked to speak, positivity is my most popular topic.

I think it’s because we all want to positivity. We know that life is so much better when you feel genuinely positive.

If you’re like me, you may find yourself letting out a long groan and roll of your eyes when you hear the word positivity. But here’s the thing: positivity can change your life. And it’s not just being Pollyanna sunshine, it’s about being genuine, alive and interested in finding more positivity in your life. Not forcing yourself to fake being happy.

Barbara Fredrickson, is a distinguished professor at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has received numerous honors for her research including the highest prize from the American Psychological Association for proving in her Positivity Research lab .

She says “Whatever your current circumstances, you’ve got what it takes to reshape your life and the world around you for the better. You have already within you, the active ingredient that’s needed to craft a happy life that’s full of growth and creativity and to be remarkably resilient in hard times. What’s the active ingredient? Positivity. Heartfelt positivity.”

It’s not just people, event WATER is influenced by positivity.

Watch this powerful clip about science done in Japan about the power of love on even the simplest and most vital elements for the planet’s survival. Water.

Isn’t that just so amazing? I showed it to my kids and have shown it to numerous clients….it is just a visual for the impact positivity and negativity can have.

How much do I need? Fredrickson’s research shows us you need a ratio of 3:1 in order to flourish. 3 positives to every 1 negative …..this will impact your brain cells, relationships, business success… YOU!

What if I have trouble finding positivity? Here’s are 3 quick tricks:

Ask yourself these 3 Questions:

  1. What’s right about my current circumstances?
  2. What makes me lucky to be here?
  3. What aspect of my life might I see as a gift to be treasured? How does this benefit me or others?

BOTTOM LINE: Positivity is a choice. That doesn’t mean it’s easy, but it means it’s possible. It’s also important. I hope you can chose positivity and start to enjoy the benefits!
